This may sound pretentious but it's more along the lines of those songs happen to fit the narrative I was trying to construct and probably aren't as badly played to death.

"Maybach Music 2" for instance is a song I skimmed when I didn't really spend enough time with Deeper Than Rap back when I DLed it. It's a big gorgeous song that for me is a great example of Kanye killing a guest appearance and in a seemingly appreciative, celebratory mood. I could've accomplished the same idea, in terms of mood, with say, "Good Life" or went with "Flashing Lights" over "Us Placers" but then, to me, it would really seem like a waste of your time.

Glad you appreciate that live version of "The Food" though. I love the crowd applause, Kanye's slightly off harmonizing and Chappelle's intro and outro around it, such a great moment. I'll definitely also be listening to that song for the rest of my life.Abe Beamehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02555083249178098320noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6011834419662563584.post-21861826962298753722010-05-19T14:09:37.627-07:002010-05-19T14:09:37.627-07:00thats mainly directed at ye's newer raps more ...thats mainly directed at ye's newer raps more than 808s, a record that i like more than mostNickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07344266366690574201noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6011834419662563584.post-21750756866489722632010-05-19T14:07:55.207-07:002010-05-19T14:07:55.207-07:00with one or two exceptions i've heard all of t...with one or two exceptions i've heard all of these so i'm not gonna d/l and listen now, but this list makes me think kanye's earlier output is gonna keep aging a lot better than his newer stuff.

like when maybach music 2 came out i listened to that hard for a couple weeks but if i were to get it eternal sunshined out of my brain i wouldnt really miss much.

whereas something like the food (and props for putting up that dave chappelle version), i might be listening to that for the rest of my lifeNickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07344266366690574201noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6011834419662563584.post-64025767558500361952010-05-18T19:54:16.846-07:002010-05-18T19:54:16.846-07:00Ghost is one of the best MC's to ever do it IM...Ghost is one of the best MC's to ever do it IMO. I cannot say whethe I agree with it, for I have not read he novel, though based on your post I plan to; I am simply saying that your post is very well written! I wish more moviegoers were as observant as you apparently are. I actually read your post because I had intitially, for whatever reason, decided to read up on Clockers at imdb.com. There is a thread at the site that references this post, the poster recommending it. As I have said, I am glad I read it.

The reason I had chosen to review the movie at imdb is because I had seen Clockers (two or three times) a number of years ago and actually found it to be quite good. In fact, I have always claimed it is a dramatically underrated movies and among my Spike Lee favorites. Then again, I have not read the book. Out of curiosity, let's say hypothetically that Clockers was not based on a novel, that all of it was original, story and all. Do you believe Clockers would be a good film?Joehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17009759390900361118noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6011834419662563584.post-56751614269101135892010-04-18T07:40:38.957-07:002010-04-18T07:40:38.957-07:00Fantastic post. He'll be like, back in the day I used to hold some totally idiotic view, like, Aaliyah was talentless, 'Mo Money Mo Problems' was a terrible, excessively pop record - and now i REALIZE what the WHOLE WORLD already knows, what every pop critic and person with a brain has been saying for ten years, and I think you should, like, congratulate me for coming to this enlightened view because... I'm important and my opinions matter.
